John Kemp is chairman emeritus of the Kemp Klein Board of Directors, as well as Of Council to the firm.
He has been involved in the development of innovative insurance products and the acquisition, merger and sale of these insurance companies.
More than 30 years ago, he drafted one of the first software licenses paving the way for the present day multi-billion dollar software licensing industry. Prior to licensing, software was sold rather than licensed.
His legal career has been devoted to representing a variety of financial service companies and other successful businesses. He has extensive experience drafting loan documents covering a wide range of transactions. As a litigator, he is able to enforce the documentation.
Because he serves as officer and director of several privately held insurance companies, Mr. Kemp has had significant lending and investment responsibilities. He also has served as general counsel for a number of small credit life and specialty or niche property and casualty companies.
Mr. Kemp is a leader in the use of insurance companies as tax deferral devices and has created other unique tax deferral arrangements for self-insured vendors of product warranties.
He has proven to be an excellent negotiator in the consummation of commercial transactions as well as in the resolution of disputes.
